Scripture Reading

“Don’t lie to one another. You have gotten rid of your old way of life and its habits.”

Colossians 3:9 (NIRV)

Introductory Remarks:

Each of us is a spiritual being. Our nature is like God’s nature – Absolute Good. When we forget this, we tend to say what is untrue rather than True. The more we say what is not true, the more lies we tell. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Major Points of the Lesson:

1. As a child of God, we are the ones who choose to use our voice to tell the truth or to lie. It is up to us to choose, not God. “Now my friends, I want to say this to you. Fill your minds with thoughts about good things. Think about things that are true, clean, right and lovely. Always think about things which people know are very good.” Phil. 4:8 (EASY)

2. The words we speak are determined by the thoughts we think. We are likely to lie and cause harm to ourselves and others when we feel afraid; and when we feel that people don’t like us or we don’t like ourselves.

3. When we remember that our spiritual nature and the spiritual nature of others is absolute good, we are more likely to honor the good in others and speak the Truth.

Quote:

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:32 (NIV)
