Step 4: Speak the Word & Give Thanks

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 55:11 (NRSVUE)

“[S]o shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Introductory Remarks:

Words have formative power. They can ‘add’ to your life and they can ‘subtract’ from your life. They can ‘uplift’ you or they can ‘depress’ you. They can support you in fulfilling your God given purpose and they can ‘distract’ you from living your purpose.

Major Points of the Lesson:

  1. Every word you speak, consciously or unconsciously; deliberately or casually, MATTERS!
  1. Words of gratitude and thanksgiving will work wonders in every area of life if you persist in speaking them irrespective of outer circumstances.

Affirmation: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14 NRSVUE)
