In-Dependence

SCRIPTURE- 2 Chronicles 20: 14-17 (NASB)

14 Then in the midst of the assembly the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite of the sons of Asaph;

15 and he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.

16 Tomorrow, go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley in front of the wilderness of Jeruel.

17 You need not fight in this battle; take your position, stand and watch the salvation of the LORD in your behalf, Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow, go out to face them, for the LORD is with you.”

Introduction:

For 48 years the Universal Foundation for Better Living’s (UFBL)message has unapologetically shared that if you were to ‘repeatedly deny a false or unhappy condition, it loses its power to make you unhappy.’ Lessons in Truth, Chapter 4.

The Rev Dr Johnnie Colemon asserted her independence by knowing that God is her supply. By knowing who and whose we are, we allow ourselves access to all the life, love, wisdom, substance and power we could ever require. Independence is a choice you make. The various levels or filters of independence require that we choose, not onetime, but again and again, the expression of independence that best fits us. It is no secret, we attain our independence, IN-Dependence on God.

Major Points:

  1. What is Independence?
  2. Identify your filter.
  3. Choose to live IN-Dependence on the goodness of God.

Quote to Ponder:

“I declare Independence Day in my mind and in my soul very often. People may be channels, but they are not the source… You have a rich Father, who says, ‘you are my image, you are just like me. Therefore, stand on your own two big spiritual feet and declare your independence’.”
