Discover The Champion in YOU!

Scripture Reading

Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Introductory Remarks:

Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity Movement, was sick for most of her life. She was told by her family that a certain disease ‘ran in the family’ and would eventually cause her death, just as it had others. In the fall of 1886, her health was at an all-time low. However, she made her way to a series of lectures by E.B. Weeks on the topic of Spiritual Healing. She discovered that as a child of God and a Spiritual Champion, she Did Not Inherit Sickness.

Inspired by what she discovered, Myrtle put her championship powers to work—renewing her mind. She lived another 44 years after she changed her beliefs about ‘inheriting disease.’

Major Points of the Lesson:

  1. The error beliefs we hold about ourselves ‘tear down’ the body temple. Beliefs such as ‘incurable’, ‘inherited’, or ‘run in the family’ diseases, are neither intelligent nor helpful to anyone seeking to live a happy, healthy, and prosperous life. They are not God’s will for anyone.
  2. Like Myrtle, we must make intelligent use of our thoughts and words, feelings, actions, and reactions to ‘build up’ what we previously allowed to ‘tear down’ our health, wealth, happiness, and peace.
  3. The Spiritual Champion lives in each of us and wants to help us be successful in all ways. It is up to us, as it was with Myrtle, to make this discovery and give it permission to work through us to bring forth life-affirming results.

Quote:

“You ask what restored me to vigorous health. It was a change of mind from the old…mind that believes in sickness to the Christ Mind of life and permanent health. ‘Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.’ [Romans 12:2] ‘As a man thinketh within himself, so is he.’ [Proverbs 23:7] I applied spiritual laws effectively, blessing my body temple until it manifested the innate health of Spirit. These wonderful laws will work for you too when you apply them diligently and in faith.”
