Wisdom for the Journey
From The Holy Bible:
โBlessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!โ
Matthew 5:6 (AMPC)ย
From Youโve Got to Be Hungry, by Les Brown
โHungry people are seeking higher groundโฆHungry People are willing to take the time to be still and shut [out] the distractions of the world outside. Hungry people engage in deep reflections and ask themselves revealing questionsโฆPeople who are HUNGRY donโt let life define themโthey define themselves.โ Pgs. 8-9
Introductory Remarks:
Jesus hungered as he sought to fulfill Godโs โcallโ on his life. Prior to the start of his ministry, he met and overcame the temptation to believe that something other than God could truly satisfy him.
Major Points of the Lesson:
Like Jesus we are all tempted to believe that our hunger can be satisfied on 3 levels:
- Physical Sustenance
- Personal Power
- Earthly Riches
Every hunger can be traced back to the soul. To nourish the soul, feed it spiritually. Nothing else will satisfy it. NOTHING!
Quote: โIf we learn nothing else from our spiritual walk, we must learn this: As spiritual beings we are nourished by the Spirit of the Living God. If we neglect to embrace this truth, we condemn ourselves to a life filled with dis-satisfaction.โ Sheila R. McKeithen
ASSIGNMENT: Ask yourself: What do I hunger for? Will it truly satisfy me?
