Scripture Reading
Genesis 5:1-2 (NRSVUE)

“…When God created humans, [they were] made…in the likeness of God…[God] created them, and [God] blessed them and called them humans when they were created.”

Introductory Remarks:
Dr. Johnnie Colemon reminds us that God’s spirit is in us, not outside of us. God’s spirit is a ‘working force’ in our consciousness to bring forth the health, happiness, and prosperity that is our spiritual inheritance.

The Spirit of God in us makes us an heir not someday but NOW!

Major Points of the Lesson:

  • As God’s image and likeness, you are ‘just like God, whether you know it, whether you believe it, or not—that won’t change it.’ J. Colemon, pg. 38
  • Your concept of God will either enhance or diminish your ability to unlock your rightful inheritance as heir to all God is and has.
  • Jesus prayed often, affirming his relationship with God and knowing without a doubt that ‘All that God is, I Am. All that God has is mine as my spiritual inheritance.’ J. Colemon, pg. 39

Quote:

‘…Jesus…had to pray these words all the time: “The Father and I are one.” I have to do it, too. Why do you think he had to pray all the time? So that He would know all the time that all that the Father had was His! We must do the same thing.’
– J. Colemon, pgs. 38–39

ASSIGNMENT:
How do you remind yourself that you are God’s heir?
Name two bold steps you will take this week because you are an heir and not a bond servant of God.
