Step 4: Speak the Word & Give Thanks

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 55:11 (NRSVUE)

โ€œ[S]o shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.โ€

Introductory Remarks:

Words have formative power. They can โ€˜addโ€™ to your life and they can โ€˜subtractโ€™ from your life. They can โ€˜upliftโ€™ you or they can โ€˜depressโ€™ you. They can support you in fulfilling your God given purpose and they can โ€˜distractโ€™ you from living your purpose.

Major Points of the Lesson:

  1. Every word you speak, consciously or unconsciously; deliberately or casually, MATTERS!
  1. Words of gratitude and thanksgiving will work wonders in every area of life if you persist in speaking them irrespective of outer circumstances.

Affirmation: โ€œLet the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.โ€ (Psalm 19:14 NRSVUE)
