John 13:34-35 (NIV)

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Introductory Remarks: 

The Lenten journey invites us to deepen our connection with the Christ presence within, following Jesus’ example of love. At the heart of His teachings is the principle of Universal Oneness – the Truth that we are all divinely connected. Love and unity are the highest expressions of this oneness, guiding us to reflect, renew, and strengthen our relationship with God and others.

Even as Jesus faced trials, love remained His guiding principle, keeping Him connected to His divine purpose and those around Him. If we are to experience victory as He did, we must embrace His teachings on love, allowing them to transform our hearts and relationships. Today, we reflect on how Jesus’ love kept Him connected – to God, Himself, and others – so we may walk in His footsteps and rise out of every limiting situation into our victory.

Major Points of the Lesson:

  1. If we profess to love Jesus and follow his examples here are some examples of love in action from the scriptures worthy of emulation: 
  1. Love is kind & not easily angered: Jesus healed the ear of the servant of the High Priest that Peter cut off. Read Luke 22:49-51 NIV.   
  2. Love is patient: Jesus was patient with disciples who went to sleep after he asked them to stay up and pray with him. Read Matthew 26: 40-45 NIV
  3. Love is humble: Jesus resisted arguing when they accused him of claiming to be the King of the Jews. Read Luke 23:1-11 NIV
  4. Love is compassionate & forgiving: Jesus extended compassion for the man on the cross crucified with him. Read Luke 23: 42-43 NIV.
  5. Love is freeing: Jesus told Judas to go do what he had to do knowing Judas was to betray him. Read John 13:18-30 NIV.

ASSIGNMENT:

In your daily life how are you being a doer of the word and not merely a hearer of the word? At the end of each day write 5 instances where you have demonstrated the love and example of the Way Shower in your life. Did you do what Jesus taught you to do?
