Who Wants to Be Free in 2023?

Scripture: ‘Freedom is what we have—Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.’ Galatians 5:1 (GNT)

Affirm: My freedom is not dependent on any person, situation, circumstance, or thing. My freedom rests in my knowledge and full awareness of who I am as a Child of God.

Dear Prosperity Partners and Friends,

It’s day 14 of the new year and we are crafting the year 2023 by the decisions we have made thus far. If we have decided to consecrate our life and affairs to God’s plan, hopefully that is what we have done. If we have decided to eliminate habits, attitudes and behavior patterns that do not serve us, hopefully we wrote the haibts,

attitudes and behavior on our Release Sheet and burned them in the Burning Bowl last Wednesday. If we decided to do nothing different this year, then we are holding our 2022 position. It’s all up to us. It’s all up to you.

The lesson on Sunday, Who Wants to Be Free?’ reminded us of three things:

  1. As spiritual beings, we are already free.

The challenge is that we believe we are ‘only human.’ Since our beliefs determine our life experiences, the tendency is to manifest the limitations of our human self rather than the unlimited potential of our spiritual self. Operating from within the system of our limited beliefs, ‘we tend to manifest what is false about us, rather than what is true about us.’ No one can change us, but us. Let’s make that personal: No one can change me, but me. What do you choose for you in this new year, friend?

‘A change in our beliefs about our freedom, will change our experience of freedom.’
Sheila McKeithen

  1. Persons who live as slaves to the human condition are conditioned to believe:
    • ‘I am only human.’

Their first response to challenges is ‘I Can’t.’ And why can’t they? Because they believe they are only human, when within them rests infinite power. The power to change, adjust, or just to keep going is within reach—for it rests within. What good is inner power if we don’t know it is there, or if we do not use it? b. ‘Life is happening to me.’

This limiting response makes a person a ‘victim’ of his/her life rather than ‘victorious’ in life. A simple shift from ‘life happens to me’ to ‘life happens for me’ will make all the difference.

  1. Persons who live from their spiritual freedom believe:
    • ‘I am a spiritual being having a human experience.’

They know and understand that they are never alone. The Spirit of the Living God has already freed them from all entanglements. They remember who they are as they walk through life’s valleys. They fear no evil.

  1. ‘Life is happening for me.’

Life is seen as a friend, not a foe. This believer knows that the secret is to cooperate with life. During valley moments, prayer keeps him/her grounded in what is True and not what is false. Through it all, this believer trusts and affirms: ‘I am victorious in Christ.’

Let’s Pray:

God of Creation,

I am more than a conqueror and I know it. Thank You for designing me for victory in every moment. As I keep my eye of faith on You, I am reminded that You are forever and always seeing me through.

In the authority of Christ, Amen.
