Scripture Reading
Psalm 23 (CEB)
“The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. He lets me rest in grassy meadows; he leads me to restful waters; he keeps me alive. He guides me in proper paths for the sake of his good name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger because you are with me. Your rod and your staff – they protect me. You set a table for me right in front of my enemies.
You bathe my head in oil; my cup is so full it spills over! Yes, goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life,
and I will live in the Lord’s house as long as I live.”
Introductory Remarks:
On this last Sunday in our 2024 AIF Series, we take time to explore the financial aspects of our lives. While many of us will agree that it is a very important area and one in which we could definitely experience more abundance and happiness, we also recognize that in traditional Christianity, it is often an area least aligned with spirituality. This is perhaps due to limited interpretations of the scripture, “For the LOVE of money, is the root of all evil which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith…(1 Timothy 6:10).
However the Amplified version of the same scripture gives more context to the passage. It says, “For the love of money [that is, the greedy desire for it and the willingness to gain it unethically] is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves [through and through] with many sorrows.”
This scripture regarding money speaks mainly to our ATTITUDES regarding money and so we must consider what attitudes we entertain (consciously and unconsciously) about money as we seek to experience greater financial happiness.
Major Points of the Lesson:
EXAMINE
TAKE ACTION
Quote:
“Your money is an energy that can flow to you in abundance or in pinches. The good news is that you can have lots of money just as you can have a little of it. Those who amass wealth have recognized the existence of an invisible source. This source, responding to your thoughts and beliefs, flows in quantities equal to the capacity of your mental equivalent and settles as your awareness of wealth.”
Day 214 – “Live Happy” Derrick B. Wells
ASSIGNMENT:
Take the “My Money Attitude Test” by Conroy B. Wilson and determine your dominant attitude/s about money and finances. Then go back to your lesson sheet and notes to determine the work you must do to unlock God’s Abundant Storehouse and have it demonstrated in your life and in all your financial affairs.
