Scripture Reading
Malachi 4:6 (CSB)
“…[T]urn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers…”
Hope From A Father, Paul Edwards
Introduction: Father’s Day can often stir up mixed emotions. For many, it’s a time of joy and gratitude, but for others, it may bring memories of absence, disappointment, or longing. Our relationship with our fathers or father figures—whether strong, strained, or somewhere in between—can shape how we view ourselves and the world.
Today, as we honour fathers, we also reflect on the powerful experience of a father from a father—the lessons, values, and spirit they pass on. In this reflection, we celebrate the hope that can emerge through the example of a father who embodies:
1. Love, Harmony, and Respect at the Core
2. Excellence as an Attitudinal Brand Image
Excellence Mantra:
Excellence is for a REASON, For more than a SEASON, (It’s) For a LIFETIME!
3. Being Well-Anchored in Your Identity as a Child of God with Full Access to the Promises of God
4. A Presence that Reassures: Your Family Knows You Are Always There for Them
Hope For My Father, Sean Beckford
Introduction: Not all of us grew up with the kind of father-child relationship we often hear about—one filled with affection, presence, and security. For some, that bond may have been strained, distant, or even painful, leaving us with a lingering sense of being less than or incomplete.
But our message today is this: regardless of the experiences we’ve had, there is hope—both for our fathers and for ourselves. We can each begin or continue a journey of:
- Forgiveness & Healing
- Freedom from Guilt and/or Shame
- Receptivity to Love
