Scripture Reading
“When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them, an expert in the law, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 22:34-40 (NRSVUE)
Introductory Remarks:
The Universal Foundation for Better Living’s (UFBL) priority is ‘God First’.
UFBL’s Visionary Founder, The Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon, of Chicago, Illinois, established the organization on spiritual principle rather than her personality. Nearing its 50th Year, UFBL continues to make its mark in the lives of people and in the world.
Major Points of the Lesson:
1. The Foundational Statement of the UFBL is: ‘There is but One Presence and Power in the Universe, God the Good Omnipotence, the everywhere evenly present spirit of Absolute Good.’
2. When ‘God First’ is the priority, there is a conscious alignment with God as the SOURCE of all supply, including form. With our focus on God and all of the God Attributes, we experience the good desires of our heart in orderly ways.
3. The true test of priority is the order in which a thing is placed. Jesus said, ‘But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what [God} wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.’ Matthew 6:33 (CEV)
Quote:
“UFBL is a New Thought Christian movement built on universal spiritual principles handed down through the ages and taught by Jesus the Christ and others.”
