Solitude Inspires Us To Make Right Choices
“After this, Jesus went up into the high hills to spend the whole night in prayer to God. At daybreak, he called together all of his followers and selected twelve from among them, and he appointed them to be his apostles.”
– Luke 6:12-13 TPT
INTRODUCTION TO THE LESSON
Solitude, the state of being alone, is considered to be one of the traditional spiritual disciplines. The idea is to be alone with God, to pray, to meditate on Truth (from the scriptures or other books), and simply to bask in God’s presence. Solitude is associated with the silence. One of the major rewards of practising solitude is that it clarifies our minds enabling us to make wise choices.
- Solitude was a consistent practice in Jesus’s spiritual life.
- Diligently practised, solitude can be a time of getting to know God deeply, a time of refreshment for the soul, a time for sharing our deepest concerns and receiving guidance to influence our choices and decisions
