The Servant Called Money. A Better Living Lesson

Scripture Reading

Luke 16:13

“No servant can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.”

Opening Affirmation:

I am one with God’s infinite abundance. Divine Wisdom guides every financial decision I make. I faithfully steward every resource entrusted to me, and through my generosity, integrity, and gratitude, God’s prosperity flows through me to bless the world.

Introductory Remarks:

Today we continue our series on Better Living by exploring a subject that affects every one of us every single day. Whether we have little or much…Whether we are employed…Retired…Own a business…Or are simply trying to make ends meet…Every day we make decisions about resources.

How we spend them. How we save them. How we invest them. How we share them. How we worry about them. And sometimes…How we allow them to control us. Money itself is neither good nor evil. Money has no character. It simply magnifies the character of the person holding it.

In the hands of fear…money spreads fear. 

In the hands of greed…money multiplies greed.

But in the hands of love…money becomes food for the hungry. Education for children. Medicine for the sick. Employment for families. Shelter for those in need. Opportunities for future generations. Jesus understood this better than anyone. That is why he spoke about money more than almost any other practical subject. Not because he wanted people to avoid it… But because he wanted people to master it.

3. Prove Trustworthiness in the Small Things.

ASSIGNMENT:

This week I invite you to become intentional stewards. Choose one resource God has already entrusted to you. It may be your finances. Your time. Your abilities. Your home. Your vehicle. Your business. Your influence. Your relationships. Or your health. For the next seven days… Pray over that one area every morning and say:

“God, this belongs to You. Show me how to steward it with wisdom, integrity, gratitude and Love today.”

Then choose one practical action.

Perhaps begin a budget. Open a savings account. Pay off one debt. Correct a financial compromise. Bless someone anonymously. Invest in someone’s education. Support a ministry. Repair something you’ve neglected, or finally have an honest financial conversation you’ve been avoiding.

At the end of each day, ask yourself only one question:
“Did I behave today like an owner…or like a faithful steward?”
