The Call: Rise in Victory
Scripture Reading
Luke 24:5 (NRSVUE)
“... ‘He is not here, but has risen’…”
Introductory Remarks:
Jesus invited us to walk with him for the 40 days of the Lenten Season. He served as our inspiration through times of trial and triumph.
On this Easter Sunday, we walk with Jesus out of the tomb of limiting circumstances and into the glory and victory of God’s Resurrection Power – Power that has overcome every challenge, even death. Hallelujah! “I have said this to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world!” John 16:33 (NRSVUE)
Major Points of the Lesson:
Spiritually speaking, Easter moments occur when God’s Resurrection Power overturns human limitations. They occur as you walk as Jesus did in the faith and certainty of God’s victory in every circumstance.
- The same resurrection power that operated in Jesus’ soul is able and willing to operate in your soul. Like Jesus, you must ‘prepare the way’ for its outworking.
ASSIGNMENT
Look back over the Lenten Season that began on Ash Wednesday and concludes today. Make a personal listing of gains you have made, habits you have mastered, lessons you have learned and ways of being you have released.
Answer this question: Where do you wish to go from where you are now? Attend next week’s Sunday Service and be prepared to apply the lesson to the decision(s) you make regarding your forward movement.
