Authorized by the Spirit: Walking in Holy Boldness
Scripture Reading
Acts 4:9-14
If we are being questioned today because of a good deed done to someone who was sick and are being asked how this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead. This Jesus is‘the stone that was rejected by you, the builders; it has become the cornerstone.’
“There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.”
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized them as companions of Jesus. When they saw the man who had been cured standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.
4:31
When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

Authorised By the Spirit: Walking in Holy Boldness

Introductory Remarks:
There comes a moment in every spiritual journey when life asks us a question: By what authority are you standing, speaking, believing, healing, and moving forward? In Acts 3 and 4, Peter and John meet that question face-to-face. A man who had been limited from birth is lifted into a new experience of life, and the religious authorities want to know who gave the disciples permission to do such a thing.
This story is not only about something that happened long ago in Jerusalem. It is also about the Christ Presence within us today, calling us to rise from limitation, release fear, and practice the truth we say we believe. Peter and John did not operate from ego, personality, or human permission. They acted from spiritual authority, the living, loving power of God expressing through willing, faithful people.
So today, we begin with this truth: what Spirit authorises, fear cannot cancel; what God awakens, opposition cannot silence; and what divine love empowers, no human restriction has the final word. Our task is to pray, listen, and then live boldly, not with arrogance, but with the quiet confidence that the same Holy Spirit that filled the early believers is active in us now.
Major Points of the Lesson:
1. Alignment: Divine Authority Begins with Spiritual Alignment
2. Participation: Divine Possibility Requires Participation
3. Boldness: Opposition Is an Invitation to Deeper Boldness
4. Sustenance: The Holy Spirit Sustains What God Authorizes
Quote:
Boldness doesn't mean rude, obnoxious, loud, or disrespectful. Being bold is being firm, sure, confident, fearless, daring, strong, resilient, and not easily intimidated. It means you're willing to go where you've never been, willing to try what you've never tried, and willing to trust what you've never trusted. Boldness is quiet, not noisy.

ASSIGNMENT - ONE BOLD STEP:
This week, identify one area of your life where fear, hesitation or someone else’s opinion has been keeping you smaller than you know you should be.
Ask yourself four questions:
ALIGN: What is Spirit saying to me about this?
PARTICIPATE: What action is mine to take?
BE BOLD: What would I do if fear were not making this decision?
STAY CONNECTED: What spiritual practice will keep me centred as I do it?
Then take ONE BOLD STEP within the next seven days.
And before you do it, affirm:
“I am aligned with Spirit. I am authorized by Spirit. I walk in holy boldness.”
