Answering God’s Call Shapes You For Your Destiny
“YOU ARE NOT IN PURSUIT OF DESTINY ALONE. YOU DON’T HAVE TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT ALL BY YOURSELF. GOD HAS APPOINTED PEOPLE AND RESERVED RESOURCES FOR YOUR FUTURE.”
T.D. Jakes’ text – Destiny: Step Into Your Purpose, pg. 153
Prosperity Partners,
Greetings! I trust that you are well and safe. It is my highest wish that you are blessed by this year’s Adventure in Faith series of lessons. I am embracing so many new ideas about my relationship with God and my place in the world. I give thanks for all the enlightenment I am
receiving. What about you?
Last Sunday I shared a New Thought that landed in my awareness and caused me to ponder its meaning. I am still pondering this thought: ‘I landed in the right womb!’ My ponderings on this single statement led me to the conclusion that blaming parents or others for our failure to realize
our destiny is a FALSE CLAIM. God’s call on our lives or our destiny, has nothing to do with the womb that bore us or what happened to us.
Jeremiah 1:5 says: ‘Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you…” [The Message Bible] This means that God’s plan for us pre-dates our landing in the womb. Therefore, no matter the womb, the womb’s owner, her character, her success, her faults or her wisdom, God’s plan for you is intact. It constitutes your life’s design. No womb can change what God has ordained for you.
I don’t know about you, but I am still pondering these and other statements. There are external influences in our lives for sure, but what God placed in us and called us to be and do, is greater than all else.
Three additional points you were asked to consider during the lesson are:
- God invested in you and has an interest in your success.
Thankfully, God wants us to succeed. God wants us to live our destiny. God wants the spiritual investment made in us to be realized. It is up to us to deliver a return on the investment made in us. - Every experience has shaped you so that you can help others.
Our lowest moments offer us valuable lessons that can be a stepping-stone out of despair and into destiny. We can even offer support to others who are going through what we’ve been through because “WE’VE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT!” - God has appointed people and reserved resources to aid you in fulfilling your destiny.
In Rev. Charles Taylor’s workshop last Saturday, he shared that his speech therapist urged him to leave his hometown and the people who knew him as a stutterer. He did so and enrolled in a university in Florida. Upon graduation, his girlfriend suggested he move to South Florida to meet Les Brown (an ‘up and coming radio personality’) at the time. Les Brown led Rev. Charles to Rev. Mary Tumpkin and he became a Charter Member of the U.F.B.L. church in Miami, Florida, The Universal Truth Center. Rev. Charles now serves as Senior Minister of that church. Rev. Charles’ therapist, college girlfriend, Les Brown and Mary Tumpkin all aided him in fulfilling his destiny as Sr. Minister of a U.F.B.L. ministry.
There are people in your life that have helped you to fulfil your destiny. Like Rev. Charles, are you able to connect how meeting certain people positioned you to be where you are today? Last week’s Social Week Brochure offered you multiple reading pages to study Bishop T. D. Jakes’ book, Destiny – Step Into Your Purpose, available in our bookstore and at www.amazon.com. If you missed our Adventure in Faith Lesson last week (Social Week) or would like to listen again, see our Sermons page.
